About Trumbull, Connecticut
Trumbull is a town located in Fairfield County, Connecticut with a population of approximately 36,000. It borders on the cities of Bridgeport and Shelton and the towns of Stratford, Fairfield, Easton and Monroe. Trumbull was the home of the Golden Hill Paugussett Indian Nation for thousands of years before the English settlement was made in 1639. The town was named after Jonathan Trumbull, a merchant, patriot, and statesman when it was incorporated in 1797. Aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky lived in Trumbull during his active years when he designed, built, and flew fixed-wing aircraft and put the helicopter into mass production for the first time.
Exploring Treatment Options
At the Center for Varicose Veins, we offer a number of treatment options to help you deal with symptomatic and asymptomatic varicose veins and unsightly spider veins. Below is an overview of some of our most popular treatment options.
Radiofrequency Ablation
Radiofrequency ablation is a popular treatment for varicose veins. During this procedure a thin catheter is inserted into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance. Once the catheter is confirmed to be in proper location, radiofrequency energy is deposited within the vein. This causes the vein to collapse and is resorbed naturally by the body. Over the following weeks, you will see the varicose veins diminish in size and notice improvement in your symptoms related to the varicose veins.
Endovenous Laser Ablation
Endovenous laser ablation is a treatment of varicose veins which uses light energy to generate heat. The heat generated from the laser results in damage to the inside lining of the vein. This causes the vein to close and get resorbed by the body over the following weeks and months. Patients start to notice improvement in their symptoms soon after the treatment. The blood flow returning to the heart is rerouted from the abnormal veins into the normal healthy veins.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a very common treatment for varicose and spider veins. Sclerotherapy is performed by injecting a solution into the diseased vein. The injection can be performed under visual guidance or in cases of slightly deeper veins, under ultrasound guidance. Depending on the size of the vein, Dr. Madan may use foam sclerotherapy for treatment of larger varicose veins. Sclerotherapy can be used to treat veins throughout the body, including hand, facial, chest, foot and leg veins.
